Philip Pickett and the New London Consort announced as Associate Artists of Manchester's Bridgewater Hall
Manchester’s world-class concert venue announces new partnership with Philip Pickett and the New London Consort
Following their performances of Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo in 2007, Monteverdi’s Vespers 1610 in 2009, and Shakespeare’s Musick with the Musicians of the Globe in 2010, Philip Pickett and his ensembles have been appointed Associate Artists of Manchester’s Bridgewater Hall, working with the hall's programmers towards common goals for artistic projects, education and audience development over the next few seasons.
This is in recognition not only of the high quality of their performances, but also of the enthusiastic and warm response of audiences to their work in Manchester over the last several seasons, and their innovative and adventurous programming.
In the press release announcing the Bridgewater Hall's 2010/11 season, Artistic Consultant Peter Davison writes : ‘We are looking forward to working with our Associate Artists in coming seasons, allowing us to be more adventurous and taking audiences on new journeys.'
To initiate this new partnership Philip Pickett and the New London Consort will perform their new production of Purcell’s The Fairy Queen [directed by Neil Wallace] on 20 February 2011 at the Bridgewater Hall - part of a European tour that will take the ensemble to major venues in the UK, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, France and Spain.
